My Music

I have a wide range of interests but most of my spare time is devoted to music - either playing it or recording it. My music is focussed on roots music particularly in the Irish tradition.
I am not precious about instrumentation and am keen to mix acoustic with electric, strings with reeds etc but ultimately trusting my ears to get what I hope are pleasing sounds.
I apply the same principles to recording the music of others - in the end I trust my ears!
I play in two different bands playing Irish music:
The Chrissie Cullen Band is a four piece band playing Ceilidh Music for dancing - we do lots of weddings, parties etc.
Cunla is a trio that plays Irish music but more for listening than dancing, so we play in pubs and folk clubs. Find out more by clicking here!

For 15 years now I have been a freelance engineer and production assistant for BBC Local Radio on the Folk and Roots segment of Henry Ayrton's Real Music Show. I have learnt lots about radio production and developed my skills as a recording engineer and music producer. This in turn has led to me starting a home recording studio which I call Belefant Records.
On the radio show I have produced more than a hundred live studio sessions and worked with many excellent profesional musicians. One of my radio show sessions provided a track for Lindisfarne's album BT3. It is called "Log on your fire" Lindisfarne's official website
